Report: Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) is testing a new feature, sound alerts

The world’s biggest social networking company Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) is purportedly involved in testing a new feature that produces a ping sound for activities such as when a user writes on your Timeline, sends you a message or invites you to an event. Facebook spokesperson said that they were testing a sound with notifications. The spokesperson also said that it was only testing with a small percentage of people and users have an option to control it from the Account Settings page.

Mashable claims that the test was first covered by a VentureBeat reporter whose profile page was among the test audience. The writer published a video and cited he “hates” it already. The report said that they can assume many others will not be happy to hear a constant stream of sound alerts.
