Profit excluding one-time items was 62 cents a share, beating the 60-cent average of 17 analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg. GAAP net income for the reported quarter was $98 million or 16 cents per share compared with $316 million or 55 cents per share in the year-ago quarter. GAAP net income for the reported quarter was adversely impacted by asset impairment charges and restructuring costs to the tune of $314 million or 52 cents per share.
