Services Sector Performance And Three Key Drugstores – (WAG, CVS, RAD)


Earlier this month, an industry report revealed that the growth rate of the services sector slowed in June to its worst point since January 2010 as new orders decreased, though they added more workers. The Institute for Supply Management said readings at its services index moved down to 52.1 as compared to 53.7 in May, missing economists’ forecasts for 53.0, according to a Reuters survey. A reading over 50 is a sign of expansion in the sector. The new orders part declined to 53.3 from 55.5, while the jobs gauge advanced to 52.3 from 50.8.

 

In the drugstores industry, Walgreen Co. (Walgreen), together with its subsidiaries, operates a drugstore chain in the United States. In Drug Stores Industry, Walgreen is the top volume gainer of the  last trading session. Shares of Walgreen Company (NYSE:WAG) closed at $34.60 and declined -0.06% with the total traded volume of 16.95 million shares beating the average volume of 12.08 million.

CVS Caremark Corporation (NYSE:CVS)

CVS Caremark is also among volume gainers in its industry. CVS is on pathway to go above expectations. Company looks forward to keeping hold of at least 50% of the recommendation dealing gained from the impasse in the fourth quarter.

In last trading session, CVS Caremark Corporation (NYSE:CVS) plunged -0.77% and closed at $45.08 with the total traded volume of 12.93 million shares more than the average volume of 7.66 million. CVS has total market capitalization of 57.77 billion. Its net profit margin was 3.17% and operating margin was 5.37% as its trailing twelve month earnings per share were $2.67.

Rite Aid Corporation (NYSE:RAD)

Rite Aid Corporation (NYSE:RAD) is third highest volume gainer among drug store stocks. RAD shares ended at $1.20 and traded total volume of 5.97 million shares. RAD opening price was $1.18 and its shares were trading within the range of $1.17-$1.22.

Its total outstanding shares are 899.09 million with the market capitalization of 1.08 billion. RAD has current ratio of 1.74 and its total debt-to-equity ratio was 0.54.
