Report: Nokia (NYSE:NOK) posts job ad for a senior engineer to work on new mobile devices and software

 

Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) reportedly posted a job ad on employment network LinkedIn which discloses the company seeks to add a senior engineer to work on new mobile devices and software, but they are not Windows Phones. It’s for the core of Android, Linux.

The ad confirms that Nokia (NOK) is preparing for a tentative, exploratory move into Android area. Gizmodo report claims it says the new employee would have to work in a “start-up environment” and develop “exciting new products” for future “mobile phone technology” in accordance with the phone maker’s plan.

Nokia was alleged to be preparing its own Linux-based OS, called Meltemi, but that’s thought to have been chopped as part of the Finnish phone maker’s latest round of cost-reducing.

To have a quick look on Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK)’s price history, beta used to measure the volatility or systematic risk in comparison to the market as a whole was 1.78 and the percentage change in the price over the last fifty two weeks remained at -40.93%. The price range in those 52 weeks had a highest hit of $5.87 on Feb 24, 2012 while lowest level during that period was $1.63 on Jul 18, 2012.

Elsewhere in the communication equipment industry, Ericsson (ADR) (NASDAQ:ERIC) moved down -8.69% in this year and its price history showed most recently beta was at 1.14. Overall during the last 12 months, the percentage change in the price was -9.40%, hitting the highest of $10.60 on Apr 03, 2012 while lowest level in that period was $8.23 on Jul 17, 2012.

Alcatel Lucent SA (ADR) (NYSE:ALU)’s shares declined -27.56% so far in 2012. The stock most recently had a beta value at 1.91 and the percentage change in the price over the last fifty two weeks remained at -32.34%. The price range in that 1-year period had a best hit of $2.66 on Feb 24, 2012 while lowest level in the same period was $0.91 on Oct 11, 2012.

So far, the share price of QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) jumped 17.18% in this year and stock’s price history revealed that beta was maintained at 1.29 and the percentage change in the price over the last fifty two weeks remained as 13.80%.
