Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) was fined €561 million approximately $732.2 million by Brussels on Wednesday. Because Microsoft Corporation has broke its promise to offer Windows users an option of internet browser in breach of a high-profile rivalry deal with European regulators EU, according to Financial Times.
This fine on Microsoft, from EU suggests that, what should be the result after a company failing to stick to a voluntary deal with antitrust regulators. And how will Joaquín Almunia, EU competition commissioner will fix the situation to enforce such settlements.
According to the EU claimed Microsoft was the first to break a voluntary deal with EU regulators, and according to the deal the software giants will allowed 15 million clients to pick substitute to its Internet Explorer browser.
The EU penalty comes as Microsoft Corporation is also encounter with other financial problems; the company is also facing Danish tax authorities claim of approximately $1 billion, which also include fines for late payment of taxes from decade long.
In 2012 the company has accepted it had failed to meet the demands of the deal with Brussels in 2009. According to the demand of the deal, which Microsoft have to offer it’s European buyers of new PCs an option of internet browser, rather than creating its personal IE browser the default choice.

Even though the company, in Europe has previously paid about €1.6 billion in penalties in antitrust issues from last ten years, and this latest penalty against the company for failing to keep its word in a voluntary deal create a new low point.
Microsoft Corporation in their reaction note against the charges on Wednesday declared that the company takes complete blame for the technical error that origin this trouble. And the company made apology for the mistake.
The company added that they have provided EU with a complete and truthful assessment of the situation. And have taken such steps that will strengthen the software giant development and will avoid this kind of mistake in the future.
