Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) survey reveals Europeans want freedom of car ownership


Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F)-sponsored new survey reveals most Europeans are still committed to car ownership, but have rising concerns about traffic congestion, the cost of driving and the environment. The Futures Company, a leading consultancy, conducted the survey in order to help Ford better understand the opinions and attitudes of Europeans across a series of mobility issues, ranging from car sharing to green driving to the future of the internal combustion engine.

The Ford poll disclosed the majority of people say life would be impossible without a car; however, 76 per cent of Europeans responded that they were affected by stress from traffic congestion and fuel prices. The survey reveals 74 per cent prefer traveling via public transport, 37 per cent share cars when making the same journey and 3 per cent would like formal car sharing schemes.

Ford Motor (F) shares traded down -3.00% during last trading session, finishing at $10.67 a piece. The share price of Ford Motor floated yesterday in a range of $10.62 to $13.05. The decline gave the company a market-cap of over $40.68 billion.
