Current Mortgage Rates Up: JPMorgan Chase Down On Higher Investigations And Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C) Ends Without Any Change – (PNC, C, WFC, MS)


Current mortgage interest rates were mostly up Friday as government security yields maintain upward momentum. PNC Financial Services, BofA, JPMorgan Chase, and U.S. Bancorp (NYSE:USB)  raised their lending rates.

The average interest rate on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages rose three basis points to 3.692 percent. The gap between the 10-year bond yield and the 30-year loan rate increased by two basis points to settle at 2.002 percent.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM) reported a fall of -0.65% and closed at $36.92 with the total traded volume of 23.40 million shares. The stock opened at $36.72 and its shares hit the day high of $37.26 and day low of $36.59. The bank is being investigated by not less than 11 state, federal and international enforcement authorities as it struggles to contain damage from a botched derivatives trade that cost it at least $5.8 billion.

Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C) confirmed the beginning of bids to purchase for cash some bonds issued by the company and its wholly-owned subsidiary Associates First Credit Corp. Citigroup and Associates are putting up for sale seven series of notes.

The stock experienced no change in last session with the closing price of $28.86. The overall volume in the last trading session was 17.52 million shares. Its fifty two week range was $21.40-$38.40. The total market capitalization remained $84.63 billion.

Other statistics show that Citigroup is ahead of its 52 week low 35.03% and its last month price volatility remained 2.81%. Its beta coefficient was 2.59 with a target price of $39.56. Company’s current year earnings per share grew with 1.18% while the five year EPS growth rate was -38.53%. Citigroup has positive year-to-date performance of +9.82%.

Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC) traded at flat to close at $33.82 and its total volume during last trading session was 13.02 million shares.

WFC has earnings per share of $3.03 and its price to earnings ratio ended at 11.18. It gained 1.34% return on assets and 12.37% return on equity.

Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) reported the gain of +0.96% and closed at $14.71 with the total traded volume of 13.96 million shares. The stock opened at $14.46 and its shares hit the day high of $14.73 and day low of $14.36.
