Current mortgage interest rates showed almost no change today while disappointed investors fled equities. SunTrust Banks, Inc. (NYSE:STI) reduced their lending rates while JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM) lifted them.
The average interest rate on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages was slightly moved up to 3.605 percent. The gap between the 10-year bond yield and the 30-year loan rate increased five basis points to settle at 2.095 percent. The average rate on FHA-backed 30-year fixed-rate mortgages dropped one point to move at 4.038 percent and the average VA loan rate advanced one point to 3.856 percent.
In the money center banks industry, shares of Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C) traded down in last session after the third-biggest U.S. bank announced two appointments including Robert Plowman as a managing director to join the London-based consumer products team in October and Nick Gray from Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) as a senior credit trader in London.
