Current mortgage interest rates moved higher Thursday following some of the key banks making big changes. PNC Financial Services (NYSE:PNC) and JP Morgan were among the lenders increasing their loan products.
The average interest rate on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages rose ten basis points to 3.784 percent. The gap between the 10-year bond yield and the 30-year loan rate increased to 1.996 percent. The average rate on FHA-backed 30-year fixed-rate mortgages jumped nine basis points to 4.240 percent and the average VA lending rate climbed two basis points to 3.917 percent.
A recent report revealed that seven banks, including Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C), are to be questioned in the US for suspected manipulation of the Libor inter-bank loan rate.
