Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Wins 1 Patent Lawsuit, Loses 3 Infringement Cases

Tech giant, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) won one infringement case, filed in San Jose, U.S. District,  Judge Lucy Koh said that she won’t consider the arguments made by Apple that two Samsung patents are unenforceable, because according to a U.S jury findings Apple hadn’t infringed them. Samsung has said that the patents are necessary to an industry standard for 3G mobile technology. A year ago, Samsung had sued Apple for accusing it for infringement.

Apple lost an infringement case in Delaware, which was brought by Maryland patent-licensing firm MobileMedia Ideas in the court. After the court, federal jury decided on case that Apple misappropriated protected the technology for the handheld devices. But still the jury has to determine the damages as it has yet to be scheduled.

Similarly in one more court proceedings in San Diego, it has been found by a jury that Apple and LG Electronics didn’t infringe for video-compression technology in electronic devices in an Alcatel-Lucent unit’s patents that includes both in phones and computers.

In another news, Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ:ORCL) has agreed to purchase DataRaker Inc. of Sausalito for expansion of its smart-grid analytics platforms that enable power, water and other utilities to use data to increase the efficiencies.

The largest database-software supplier, Redwood City’s Oracle did not reveal the terms and conditions related to this acquisition DataRaker Inc.

A water analyst at Bloomberg New Energy Finance, Maxime Serrano Bardisa said instead of DataRaker, meter data management vendors such as eMeter, it’s now the part of Siemens, and the Ecologic Analytics of Toshiba and Itron Inc. have all boosted the analytical capabilities of their products. Oracle position will also be strengthened with the acquisition of DataRaker.

On Thursday, in Patent case, a U.S. jury found that Apple’s iPhone infringed three patents, which was owned by holding company MobileMedia Ideas, although the damages have yet to determine.

The court verdict was determined after one week long trail in Delaware federal court, chief executive of MobileMedia Larry Horn said, when asked from Apple spokeswoman, she declined to comment on it.
