Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) SVP sells 35,000 shares worth more than $20m

Bob Mansfield, senior vice president of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s new “Technologies” group, has sold AAPL shares worth more than $20 million. The total number of shares sold is 35,000 AAPL shares, which, at a price of $582.94 per share that equals the closing price on 28 November, would be worth about $20,402,900. The sell off was disclosed in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

He was awarded this particular set of stock in 2005 and it acquired in 2009. This is not the first time Mansfield has cashed in AAPL stock in 2012 but he still holds 29,548 shares and is said to take ownership of 150,000 more shares in June 2013 and March 2016 if he stays with the company, according to MacRumors. Mansfield has been working for Apple since 1999 when it bought graphics chip manufacturer Raycer.

Shares of this company traded up 1.10% during trading yesterday, hitting $589.36 on NASDAQ, whose benchmark S&P 500 added 6.02 points to 1,415.95 points. The latest closing price is 16.03% off the 52-week high of $705.07 and +60.62% above the 52-week low of $377.68. At that price, shares moved up 2% from the 50-day simple moving average and up 4% than 200-day average.

How a stock moves along with the market depends on its volatility and for this stock, the volatility of 2.42% was seen in a week and for the month was 2.04%. The majority of analysts covering AAPL stock believe it will struggle to hit 2.85.

A total of 18.36 million shares changed hands with price floating in a range of $585.25 – $594.25.  However, its 30-day average volume stands at 22.16 million shares. The year-to-date (YTD) performance reflected a 46.81% gain above last year. During the past month the stock dropped -1.98%, bringing three-month performance to -12.26% and six-month performance to +2.66%.
